Grant yourself the permission

For as long as I can remember I have always felt swayed by other people's opinions or view on success or getting a "good job." I'm so sick of letting myself get that way that I've gone to great lengths these past couple years trying to find my own voice and opinions through all the mess of voices in my head. I kid you not people had super control over me just by the things they said and I would hear their voices clear as day every time I thought of the subject. You do you by Sarah Knight has been a God send of help. Seriously it's like she's speaking straight to my sole and struggles. I have to share a ground breaking tid bit from it.
"Most of us don't need saving from ourselves.
We just need permission to be ourselves, make our own decisions and mistakes, and revel in our own success, whatever that means to us. It's time to grant that permission to your own damn self. Because living your life according to other people's definitions of success is the same as living your life according to other people's dreams, other people's fears, and other people's notions of risk and regret. That's not helping anybody.
And in the end, the only person if hurts when you shape your life according to other people's standards?"

YOU.

I wish someone had told me this when I was 14, it would have saved me years of pain and stomach twisting pain. Not to mentioned an extremely unhealthy habit of doing and saying whatever made everyone happy at the cost of my own happiness.
