Hot Air Balloon Ride - 2021

 At last! We finally got up in a hot air balloon. 

My mom and grandparents reserved one for our wedding day but the temp was too high for it to stay tethered. So it got cancelled, and we tried to reschedule it several times. It took almost two years to finally get up there cause it really depends on the temp and weather. Not to mention covid got in the way. 

Finally I get to posting it! 

The day starts by a call at 4am to confirm the temp is alright, then we met at the Kelowna Mall with the pilot and crew. They send up a weather balloon of there own to see the direction of wind. Then we changed locations, more towards the airport. They explained that they have to stay away from Okanagan lake. Its so big that it creates its own wind currants and draws the hot air balloon to the middle of the lake and "traps" it there. Which has apparently happened before.

Mom joined us and took some photos from the ground but they didn't get sent over. 

We landed in the middle of an intersection in the western part of Kelowna. You can't actually steer hot air balloons which was news to me. Everyone came out and took photos of us landing.
