Guesthouse Toco - Tokyo, Japan
I found it on Pinterest originally, its a Minka turned hostel and bar. Minka is a traditional Japanese home and are often what people picture in their heads when they think of a Japanese style house. The garden with the wooden veranda what was what caught my eye all those years ago, especially with it being the middle of Tokyo. The comfy atmosphere was calming and much needed after the chaos of travelling to Tokyo. The staff were pretty good with their English through broken Japanese of mine and their broken English we got on pretty well. On the street front is the hostel bar filled with lots of foreigners when I stepped in. They showed up around the place and gave us instructions. We skipped the first mornings breakfast but paid for the second morning breakfast. We stayed in the combined gender room with bunks. Justin was shocked we were would be bunking with others, I guess I failed to tell him when I booked it. I told him it was a hostel but when we got there he told me he had never stayed in a hostel before nor shared a room of bunks.
The second morning a lovely young women made us a traditional Japanese breakfast of miso soup, and onigiri. I also found the window beside the bathroom mirrors opened up and a citrus fruit, not sure on the variety, was peacefully growing right beside the window. Not sure why I didn't take a photo of it. Regardless, Toco house was definitely worth it and I wish we could have stayed for longer.
One benefit of being married is a I have my own built in photographer for myself. 😂
