Meiji Jingu [Shrine] - Tokyo, Japan

After a bit of a sleep in from the night before at Ninja Tokyo, we headed out to soak up the traditional side of Tokyo. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Shibuya, it's dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken.

The last time I was in Tokyo and came to see this shrine there was a wedding, my teacher said weddings in the shrine were very rare nowadays with the cost of holding a traditional Japanese Shinto wedding ceremony in the shrine and I should be lucky I got to see one. Well I'm not sure if luck was on our side again or maybe its become more popular venue again since the 7 years I was here, but we saw not only one but 3 Shinto weddings processionals going through the courtyard. Honestly, I was so happy to see it again, I do feel the Japanese should treasure their traditional way of weddings.

We walked the grounds for quite a while enjoying the nature and quiet away from the bustling Shibuya. We also grabbed a quick lunch at the Shrine cafe before heading onto our next adventure of the day.
