Ninja Tokyo Restaurant - Tokyo, Japan

After spending the afternoon in Akihabara playing way way too many claws machines and losing more money then I care to recall, we stepped into Tokyo Ninja. Ok in all honesty it wasn't that easy to find Tokyo Ninja.

Since its supposed to be a "Ninja hideout" the front door is barely marked at all. Wandered around for a solid 15 mins trying to find it.

After hitting the bell, the door slide open and we were greeted by a "Ninja" who took our reservation details. We were asked to step inside the little completely painted black room behind him. He then announced we would start our ninja journey, its a hard one but are you ready? He gestured to face the one wall and said to be prepared to start your journey, then promptly disappeared through a hidden door. Moments later we heard a women's voice call out, "are you ready to train to be a Ninja?" After an awkward chuckle from Justin and I we said YES. To start your ninja journey you have to say Nin Nin! After we both said it the wall we were facing slide open with our "Ninja trainer" behind. She led us through a narrow dark tunnel like hall with a creek running through it and different "obstacles" we had to overcome. The little creek then across in front of the tunnel with a draw bridge drawn up. She said we had to overcome the creek with our ninja tricks. She showed us how to make the ninjitsu hand sign and say nin nin! Once we did the draw bridge dropped down for us.

As we continued we had to step over a "log" and duke under a rock out cropping, then past a waterfall. Yes, you read that right. An actual waterfall in the restaurant. We were lead to a small private room modelled like a cave, waiting for us was a samurai suit with a view of a hidden bamboo fountain and pond.

I was completely blown away at this point and we hadn't even tasted any food.

Each course of the five courses had a ninja trick to it. The first was a misty chicken dish and an editable ninja star.

After the chicken course was a fire trick course of snail soup. There were so many unique ingredients to every dish I couldn't keep track of them.

Next was the wagyu course with a "charcoal" block aka bread and wagyu.

After our courses were finished we were told to wait for the "master ninja" for our final training. I was not allowed to film it so as to keep the secrets of the master ninja. The master ninja came and gave us a  private magic show.
Before leaving they took photos of us with katana and walked us to the final room. The final mission was to brave the fires and show our training from the night. We were walked into a small dark room again and told to say "nin nin". Apparently all around us were screens from floor to ceiling cause we were blasted with heat and there was "fire" all around us. We had to run through the fire aka flame looking cloth in the front to show our bravery.

This restaurant still sits at the top 2 restaurants we've been in the world. Highly recommend putting it on your bucket list. Reservations are required.
